"Tirau" by Narelle Huggins
Tirau is a small attractive township in a rural setting, with the Kaimai ranges as a backdrop.
It has a population of approx 800 people. Situated within the South Waikato District, as are the towns of Putaruru and Tokoroa, Tirau is also known as the corrugated capital of the world and has plenty to offer the visitor from cafe's to shops and Art Galleries like Deciduus.
Other towns in close proximity are Matamata and Cambridge.
Cambridge artist Narelle Huggins has called the Waikato home since 2015. Originally from Australia and having lived in various parts of Victoria and outback Western Australia, the contrast of landscapes in which her family has lived is what most inspires Narelle’s work. With an endeavour to discover what makes a place unique, her paintings draw out a ‘sentimental connection to place’.
